The price of the new Kindle 3 can be as low as 9. This is the cost for the 6" model that has just Wi Fi access. To get the same sized electronic reader that has access to the 3G network costs 9. These prices are lower than what Amazon used to charge last year for previous models of the Kindle. This is good news for consumers who are looking to get the best deals. I myself bought my first Kindle very recently. I had waited since earlier this year because I was pretty sure that they would soon be releasing a new model, and they did. This is the drawback of buying this sort of electronics device. Over time, they will continue to bring out better and better models. But in the meantime, if you do not buy one then you simply will not be able to use it. This is why this new lower price for a Kindle 3 is really good news.
The way that I justified the cost of my Kindle to myself was that I knew that I would be able to download a huge selection of free books. This is the collection in excess of 1.8 million books that are out of copyright. And it is not un-known titles either. The first book I downloaded and read was Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. Since then I have downloaded The Tales of Sherlock Holmes and The Legend of King Arthur. There are loads of classics to read that does not cost you anything.
Price
It really depends upon how much you read. But say a classic title would cost you for the book and you read 2 books a month. That equals per month. Over the course of a year, this would cost you 0. So using this calculation, buying a new Kindle 3 would actually save you money. To be honest, this was pretty much the way that I justified the initial cost of 9 to myself. For me it was worth it to pick up Amazon's new electronic reader for the new lower price.
