Can it Get Any Worse?

Bad economy, poor healthcare, gulf oil spill, tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanoes, earthquakes, cats and dogs living in sin together, what else can happen? We haven't had a good plague in a while. Oh wait, what about H1N1. I just read they had to dump millions of dollars of the vaccine because it had expired. What happens now if we have an outbreak? What about the stock market, my future, my kids and their futures? What will I do? What will I do?

No doubt these are trying times to say the least. Makes a person want to just throw up their hands and catch the next flight to an uninhabited island. I know the thought has crossed my mind a time or two recently. Everything we've worked for seems to be crumpling before our eyes. A lot of our problems are because of the greed of a few. So what's a person to do to stay sane and not want to go out in a blaze of glory?

I also feel strongly that the hope starts with us as individuals not with our leaders. Let's face it they aren't getting it. This old earth has had trying times in the past. I'm sure that local people in Europe lost hope when Rome invaded. Surely people lost hope during the Dark Ages and the plagues. If you look closely at history you will find that we don't have so bad after all. Think of what it must have been like to live in China under Mao or in Russia under Khrushchev, or for that matter Germany under Hitler. When you look at things that way we have it pretty good, we're just hitting a rough patch, having some growing pains. That could be a good thing if we don't lose hope and learn from our mistakes.

So what do I mean, "hope". Hope, in my opinion, is just the use of positive thinking. You change your energy from looking at all the bad things and start looking at all the good things in your life. When you focus on what's going right and ignore the bad you begin to attract the good to yourself. I don't understand all the in's and out's of how it works but it does. Once you shift from the glass being half empty to it being half full something magical begins to happen. Life seems a lot easier to cope with.

Now I'm not advocating that we all become Pollyanna's and become blinded to the bad that is all around us. That's just plain stupid. We need to be aware so we can make wise business and life decisions. Yet we can begin to look at life for the good it gives us and become centered on that. I know that's my goal.

I also find comfort in the Serenity Prayer that is recited at AA meetings around the world. There's a lot of wisdom in it for all of us whether we are sober or not. I'll leave you with its wise words:

According to the January 26th edition of Nuclear Market Review (NMR), the spot uranium price hasn't budged for a sixth straight week - the longest period of no price change since June 2005. NMR again reported no change in either the spot or long-term uranium price indicator, which remains respectively at and /pound. The good news for uranium mining companies, and especially their share prices, is that the spot uranium price has steadfastly remained above US/pound for three straight months. This may be a secure production cost pricing point to give many of the upcoming uranium projects a comfortable profit cushion. But how long will the price remain frozen at this level?

NMR editor Treva Klingbiel wrote, "The gap that previously existed between willing buyers and willing sellers has widened dramatically, and as a result, buyers and sellers are finding it increasingly difficult to find common ground with many transactions failing to reach conclusion."

The impasse between buyers and sellers could continue for a while longer. NRM reported that nine buyers are seeking offers for approximately 4.4 million pounds of U3O8 equivalent. Klingbiel observed, "About one-half of this quantity is discretionary."

NMR wrote the stalemate may not break "until the market regains momentum." Klingbiel cited "the holiday season and routine year-end quietness" for the stalemate. But she also wrote, "The greatest factor, however, is the dramatic jump in price that occurred on December 15th." That was when TradeTech's Weekly Spot Uranium Price Indicated jumped a record /pound to /pound.

On Thursday, Cameco Corp issued an update on the company's Cigar Lake uranium project, explaining that the company hopes to seal off the water inflow sometime in the second quarter. An update about remediation capital costs and timelines was expected in February, but Cameco won't have a report ready until March. On Monday, rumors were flying about Cameco's Cigar Lake project, which led to the biggest single-day drop in the company's share price since the uranium mine flooding was announced.

Supply may remain tight coming into 2007. Australia's two largest uranium mining operations, BHP Billiton's Olympic Dam and ERA's Ranger, both reported 20-percent or greater production drops for 2006. For the time being, it should be noted that hardly any uranium mining stock, whose development prospects are on the horizon, has suffered because of the spot uranium price deep freeze.

Basically what I'm getting at is there are so many ideas that we could implement into our builds.

Let's take some ideas form the German scene to start. They have some of the most detailed bikes around. They use a large amount of custom billet parts that have been designed to clean up all the OEM plastic and roughcast parts that come out of the factory.

Fork covers are starting to become more common among many of the show bikes. A cue taken from the cruiser crowd that cleans up the front end. Most often matching the diameter of the triple clamps creates more of a seamless look from top to bottom. Also staying at the front end is integrated risers and bar clamps. Still using flat bars, but without the obtrusiveness of risers sticking up in the air. The riser cap is made to look flat against the clamp either on top or on the front side of the clamp.

Another neat look that has been popping up a lot more. Billet brake reservoirs. Get that ugly hunk of plastic off the bike. These pieces either just replace the plastic cup or can bolt into the master cylinder itself for more of a one-piece look.

A low buck version of this has been used on race bikes for many years. A capped off clear tube filled with fluid acts as the ressy. The neat part about this, aside from its weight saving quality, is it can be made as big or small as you like. A small piece of solid wire bent to position inside the tube aids in rigidity and allows it to be positioned in almost any direction.

The next level to this idea is building the reservoir into the handlebars. A look at the Gregg's Customs Hellion gives a great example of this mod.

Since we are talking about hiding things, what about all those cables? Another look to the chopper crowd gives us a neat solution. Internal throttle setups have been copied and reproduced to a much more affordable price range. The down side is they are rarely made to fit 7/8 bars. But I have your solution:

Once upon a time Honda offered the CT70 mini bike that used and internal throttle assembly. And guess what? It was a 7/8 diameter. The best part is it is still available and for the low low price of .99 you too can have this super clean super trick part that all the cool kids are doing.

These can be purchased from various websites. I have also run across some billet versions on ebay, but they are rare and quite a bit more. And while you're at it, why not go for that ultra clean look and put one on the clutch side too!?

Speaking of swapping tail sections. We all want that ultra slick piece of plastic to make our ass look good. The aftermarket stuff is rare and expensive. Some have gone the way of seriously modifying OEM plastic, some have made their own from foam molds and fiberglass. I'm totally for these ideas. It's a great exercise in creativity. For those of us that my not have honed these skills yet there are other options. Look at other alternatives. Pocket bikes for example. A lot of the mid size bikes are copies of some of the more popular full size bikes. They're just much smaller. Best part is they are cheap. Most can be had for around . Also, some of the oddball scooters offer really neat taillights and surrounds that can be made to work with a little thought and ingenuity. Keep your eyes peeled. There may be things you never thought of before.

Soft tail frames for motorcycles are also known as "swing arm frames" for the swing arm which provides the soft ride. Motorcycles with soft frames ride quite different than those with rigid frames. How, exactly, does the soft tail frame and swing arm assembly work to provide the softer ride? The rear tire of the cycle must be connected to the frame. The difference between the two frame types is the way in which this connection is made.

A soft tail frame swing arm contains a pivot joint between the rest of the frame and the rear wheel assembly which supports the wheel and the rear suspension. The atmosphere darkened bringing a creepy chill of expectancy to the land. The tornado sirens sounded warning all residents to immediately take shelter. Fear dropped into my mind as I realized that my daughter, son and their families were in a severe storm watch where tornadoes were sighted.

I took a deep breathe as I realized that my daughter and her families town was just twenty miles from Greensburg.

Our world is more than what it seems. Each of us are players in a supernatural world game of tug-of-war. A battle of good versus evil. A complex life game that demands that we choose a side and fight or give up and die! Each difficulty we face has a goal to bring us to our knees and make us deal with the consequence of living in a imperfect world. Each brings us to a valley of decision that is meant to test us and perfect us for the eternal perfect world God has prepared for those who conquer evil and choose to do good.

I have been tried and tested in this world through everything I have experienced in my life. Everything I have gone through just makes me more keenly aware of the struggle that all Christians face when they choose to do God's will. When you hold onto Jesus Christ and His teachings, you will come under attack by Satan and his demons.

The Bible tells us why our world is destructive and menacing to the very existence of all human kind. Satan is the god of this world and his desire is to destroy all people's faith in God. The devil doesn't want anyone to understand why tornado's exist, because if they knew the truth they would fight back and win their own personal struggles against evil.

Ephesians 6: 11-13, "Put on all the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil's evil tricks. For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age. So put on God's armor now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy's attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground."

Every time we face tests of all kinds we do spiritual warfare that demands that we use the word of God in order to fight. These verses make us aware of what we are fighting against. Every bad thing that comes up against people from ferocious storms, to pestilence of all kinds, to wars being fought near and far is meant to defeat the followers of Christ.

Ephesians 6:14&15, "So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate, and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News of peace."

Understanding the consequences of living in a war zone made me understand why my own family was in the path of a colossal storm. I personal chose to fight for God and because I clung to the word of God and to the principles taught in the Bible my entire family, community, and state were under siege.

I was not alone in my struggles against Satan, all Christians in Kansas were under attack for believing and placing their trust in God! Only together were we able with God's help to defeat the continued destructive path of the storm. God heard the voices of the faithful pleading on behalf of their brothers and sisters and God dissolved Satan's will to destroy additional towns.

Ephesians 6: 16-18, "At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the Evil One. And accept salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you. Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people."

When you understand the battle between good and evil you begin to realize that the ominous storm did not happen as a punishment sent by God, but rather as a test that is meant to make us strong! It reveals what kind of soldier's we are in the battle against evil. It builds our character and gives us the ability to become stronger people.

James 1: 2-4, "My brothers, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your way, for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure. Make sure that your endurance carries you all the way without failing, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."

Satan attacks every community that strives to do God's will. He battles against the good in order that his own evil works can be accomplished. He wants to destroy people's faith and make them blame God for what they just suffered.

God takes the evil Satan inflicted on man and turns it into good by showing Christians everywhere what they are capable of overcoming. He gives them testimonies that they can share with all people. He gives good and faithful people the opportunities to be on national television and tell everyone that with God's help, Greensburg will rebuild again!

Nothing can prevent Christians from praising God, because the love God produces in our hearts shine forth when we face tragedies of all kinds. Our hope in a powerful God helps us to function even when we have just lost everything we have ever owned.

Everything that we go through has a reward. A reward that is waiting for us in Heaven. A reward that is measured by the amount of tragedy we overcame in our worldly lives. Together we share in the richness of a perfect heaven where nothing can spoil or ware out.

Everything about our world is temporary. Food has a shelf life. Vehicles can be destroyed. Weather can destroy an entire community. People have an appointed time and then they live no more in this temporary imperfect world.

When we place our hope in God, we are different from the people of the world. Because we know that our suffering will make us stronger people and change us into better people. We feel for the homeless people of the tornado. We care about those who lost someone they loved during the tornado. We have compassion for people who have no work, because their jobs were destroyed in the tornado.

Romans 8:28, "We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose."

Jesus Christ gives our lives purpose. We never give up no matter what happens because we know that our present situation cannot defeat us because we have Jesus on our side. We are like super hero's who have been given the ability to stand up to evil and fight!

This is the reason why we must understand that when you are in a world game of good versus evil, you will see the differences it makes in people. People who are good will rise above the destruction of a tornado and testify for God, but those who have given into the world will run away and hide and blame God for their pain.

Our world has an appointed time and then the world game is over. Be patient as you endure Satan's rampage of evil and remember Jesus is coming in the clouds to bring all his faithful hero's home. A perfect home where we will live in peace and in the perfection of Heaven.

James 5:7&8, "Be patient, then, my brothers, until the Lord comes. See how patient a farmer is as he waits for his land to produce precious crops. He waits patiently for the autumn and spring rains. You also must be patient. Keep your hopes high, for the day of the Lord's coming is near."

My family, friends and community stood strong against the storm and escaped with very little damage. We understood our fight and we called upon Jesus' name and He rescued us from the tornado's that wanted to take our lives and end our battle for Christ.
