This list gives details about the goods and services that the funeral home offers, including the price of each.

The Federal Trade Commission has mandated a Funeral Rule that states that funeral homes must give customers a GPL at the beginning of any discussion of arrangements. You should be given a copy to keep. It is most prudent to discuss the GPL in private with your family and close friends. This way you can make an informed decision without the selling tactics of the funeral director.

All GPLs have certain disclosures printed on them. They must state that:

. consumers may select only the goods and services they desire

. embalming is only required by law in certain special cases

. a basic services fee will be added

. for cremation, you can purchase an "alternative container". This option is usually much less expensive.

. A price list for vaults is available

GPLs must list the following prices of these items if the funeral home offers these services:

. Retrieval of body

. Viewing price

. Funeral or memorial service

Reading the GPL can seem quite daunting to people, especially if they have just experienced a death in the family. Funeral homes use the tactic of listing "packages" on the first few pages and then listing the individual services on the last page. This serves to discourage people from price comparison because it they often get tired prior to reaching the itemized list. To be fair, buying a package deal may offer savings but only if you want all the items.

Direct cremation and immediate burial, the simplest options when it comes to funerals, include body pickup, basic services fee, death certificate filing and transportation to the cemetery or crematory. If you are opting for cremation, be sure to inquire about the crematory fee. Many funeral homes do not include this fee in their price.

If you want a more complex service, you must start with the basic services fee. This is the only fee on the GPL that the customer must pay. This will cover the death certificate filing, obtaining copies of the death certificate for the family, coordination with the cemetery or crematory and filing for insurance, veterans, or Social Security benefits. These are services that are common to most arrangements.

The Funeral Consumers Alliance has reviewed tens of thousands of GPLs over the years. At least 50% do not comply with FTC rules. If you are dealing with a funeral home that has a GPL that is overtly out of compliance, you are dealing with a business that is unethical. I have listed some of the most common violations:

. For immediate burial, charging a higher price if you purchase the casket outside of the funeral home. Not giving you the choice of "disinfecting/basic care of the remains."

. Adding "supervising a funeral service" into the basic services fee

GPLs are not complicated documents but they must be read carefully and thoroughly. Unfortunately, the timing that necessitates the review of the GPL makes it prudent to confer with family and close friends prior to making any decisions about the funeral process. A GPL is a valuable and necessary document and it should be carefully reviewed in order to make smart financial decisions about a funeral service.

When dealing with electrically operated radio controlled model aircraft, there are a few components that you need to understand. Let us start with speed controllers. What does this component do?

The speed controller is the component that is used for controlling and distributing the power to your electric radio controlled model aircraft. It also controls the amount of power that the motor will deliver. This in turn determines whether your radio controlled model aircraft will go faster or slower.

Welding Certification is a big deal.  Jobs that Require welding like Nuclear Plants, Bridge construction, Aerospace, petro/chemical usually require a welder to pass a welding certification test before welding on anything.

But what about the thousands of hobbyist welders out there who buy a 115 volt flux core mig welding machine from Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor supply or even Craiglist?

Do they need to be certified too?

Technically, No. But I have a suggestion for anyone anywhere that welds anything that matters... where if the weld fails, someone will get hurt or die:

This could be handlebars for a chopper, a bike rack for the back of a Jeep, a landscape trailer, or a deer stand. (All of which could kill someone if the welds failed).  The next best thing to certifying a welder is to destructively test the weld.

Lets use the chopper handlebars for an example. Obviously, you cant destroy every weld you make but what if you were to weld up a mock up set of handlebars just to prove the weld settings? Wouldn't it be worth the price of the tubing just to have confidence in the welds?

By welding a mock-up set of handlebars using some extra tubing of the same exact material type and thickness and then, taking the mock-up handlebars out back and beating the hell out of them with a BFH (big freakin hammer) you would have a pretty good idea on the soundness of the welds. If the welds broke, oh well, at least you weren't going around a curve at 90 mph. Back to the drawing board until you find out what went wrong.

This kind of testing would be an eye opener to most welders.  It is very informative when you see good looking welds that you think are fine, pop apart when subjected to the BFH test. Its gut check time and it  makes for  better welds.  Lets face it... sometimes good looking welds are not good.

Welding certification may not be necessary for everybody but a little destructive weld testing goes a long way.

I've been very interested lately in a lot of different models of RC helicopter and as I've been doing my research trying to decide which one to buy next, I've come to realize just how many different types of RC choppers there are!

The first thing you need to decide is whether or not you want to buy an indoor chopper or an outdoor chopper. Now, an indoor chopper is strictly indoors and these can usually be had for around -40 dollars. Outdoor choppers will run you more money but they are usually larger and have better performance over all.

Keep in mind that with some outdoor choppers you won't be able to fly them inside at all. They are simply too big and require too much room to maneuver to make flying them in a typical room unpractical. There are however some models that sort of blur the line between indoor and outdoor like the Madhawk 300 which is big enough to perform outside (as long as it's not TOO windy) but small enough that you can practice indoors. Once you decide on an indoor or outdoor model than you consider these types before making a purchase:

Double Co-Axial Choppers

These are your basic indoor "toy" helicopters. They are easy to fly, easy to maintain and will generally provide a great deal of fun while cruising around your apartment. They aren't suited for outdoors as the slightest breeze will take them high into the air or smash them into the ground (usually causing a lot of damage!). They make a great conversation piece for your office and are perfect for wasting a bit of time!

Single Co-Axial Choppers

Basically the same as the above except some of these are large enough to fly outdoors. They are stable enough that pretty much anyone can get them to hover and move forward without much effort. Again these are beginner choppers.

Micro RC Choppers

These are the ones that you're probably most used to seeing these days. Normally they will fit in the palm of your hand and although the basic gear underneath is usually the same, they come in a variety of styles including Military and Commercial air craft. When they first appeared on the scene these choppers were really nothing more than cool looking toys that did not fly very well but with recent advancements in the technology these choppers are VERY flyable and are perfect for beginner-intermediate users looking for an easy to fly chopper to hone their skills on.

4 and 6 Channel Choppers

These are the more advanced choppers for people who are into modding and upgrading. Probably not a good first-time chopper as they are more expensive and more prone to damage in the event of a crash (and trust me, you will crash them!).

2.4 GHz Remote Systems

These days you should always try and go with a 2.4 GHz remote system. This refers to the frequency that the choppers controls operate on and 2.4 takes up less current than the older systems. Meaning you get more flying time for each charge and in the world of RC Helicopters, flying time is what it's all about!

The Best Chopper?

Well as you can see, it really depends on your level of skill and where you want to use it. But, from personal experience I would recommend: The Syma S107 for an Indoor Chopper and the Madhawk 300 for an indoor/outdoor chopper. Both are priced very reasonably and offer great quality for the money. Foreclosure Laws in Kansas

From beginning to end the typical foreclosure in Kansas runs 147 days. Kansas is one of the few states that only allows for judicial or in court foreclosure. This means that the bank must seek the court's permission to pursue the sale of the home.

The first step that the bank will take is to file a petition for mortgage foreclosure with the court. This petition is then served upon the home owner and any other named upon the home owner and any other named defendants. If any defendant cannot be located, then the notification of the petition can be done through an ad in the paper, once the banks attorney has been successful in getting this petition with the court. Should the homeowner/defendant not file an answer, the court will enter a journal entry of judgment. If the homeowner does not file an answer contesting the foreclosure, the bank and the borrower can mitigate the process and it can even go to trial.

When the judgment is entered in favor of the bank, the homeowner is given only ten days to pay the amount due. After this time, if the money is not paid, then the foreclosure sale can be scheduled.

Ninety percent of homes going to auction these days are going back to the bank. They are not being bid on. This is due to the current swing in the economy. A couple years ago, auctions were a good place to find value in purchasing a home.

In Kansas the redemption period for the former home owner begins the day of the sale. The redemption period is the time allotted to the borrower/homeowner to regain ownership of the home if they wish to do so. There are two lengths of redemption periods. The time period is tied to the percent of the principle balance that has been paid off before the foreclosure begins. If more than one third of the principle balance of the loan has been paid off, then the former home owner is given twelve months to regain ownership of the home. If less than one third of the principle of the loan has been paid off, then the former home owner is given only three months to regain ownership of the home. To exercise this right of redemption, the home owner must pay the amount of the highest bid plus other interest and fees that apply. This would make buying back the house pretty expensive in most cases, so it doesn't happen very often.

Once the right of redemption period has passed and the home has not been redeemed, then the sheriff's deed will be recorded and the final transfer of ownership will be complete.

The only thing American about the compact Aveo automobile is it's Chevrolet name. Built in Korea [or in China] by GM Daewoo, the Aveo is America's price champion coming in at just under ten thousand dollars. That's right; you can still purchase a new car in the USA for under ten thousand dollars excluding taxes, dealer prep, and destination charges. Available as either a four door sedan or as a five door hatchback, the Chevrolet Aveo fills an important niche in the Chevy line up as an entry level econocar. Priced nearly five thousand dollars less than Chevy's next most expensive model, the Cobalt, the Aveo allows for Chevrolet to contend for a piece of the youth market. The Aveo is expressly targeted to compete against similar models from Scion, Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota.

Option packages include better sound, air, an automatic transmission, and a host of other accessories.

With a 97 inch wheelbase and a curb weight of nearly 2350 pounds, the Aveo certainly is a contender in the lightweight category. Headroom of nearly 40 inches allows taller drivers easier access, but one can only wonder if anyone would find the Aveo all that comfortable to begin with based on the car's size and the quality of the seating?

GM Daewoo [50.1% owned by General Motors] recently released a new version of the Aveo [called the Gentra in Korea] that currently is only available in Asia. The new Gentra/Aveo incorporates a rounder exterior departing from the dated wedged shape of the current Aveo. No official word as of this writing if and when the new model will make its American debut.

While the Aveo is certain not to win many awards, it does provide for consumers possessing limited means an affordable mode of transportation. For Chevrolet, who was lacking a basic home grown model, the Aveo brings in buyers who might have otherwise bypassed Chevy dealers and headed directly to Scion or Kia for their first car. Beyond that the Aveo is a truly forgettable car and first time buyers may want to consider a good used car instead.

Setting the Price on a Dixie Narco SIID Soda Vending Machine

The Dixie Narco soda vending machines that have the SIID controller can have their prices set very easily. The vending machine has two modes of operation. One is the normal mode and the other is the service mode. To enter the service mode you will need to open the vending machine door and press the service mode button that it found on the control board of the vendor. To find the control board you can follow the wiring back from the coin mechanism to where it plugs into a device that is similar looking to a computer board with a lot of wiring coming out of it. Amongst these wires you will find a button that can be pressed. Go ahead press it you won't get shocked or ruin your vending machine.

The service mode has many different options that you can program into your vending machine. We are going to focus on one particular the "SP" or Set Price menu option.  When you have press the service button on the control board, you have entered the service mode of your soda vending machine you will see "HD" displayed on the front LED display of your vending machine.  This will display for about 2 minutes if no buttons have been pressed your vending machine will return to the normal mode.

From here we are going to want to use the very first two selection buttons to move through the options for programming your machine. To move to the next programmable option you are going to want to press the first to selection buttons simultaneously, together, until you see "RD" displayed on the LED. Now we are going to repeat this step once more and press them together one more time and now you should see "SP" displayed. This is where we going to want to be. This is the Set Price mode of the vendor. 

While you are in the price setting mode of your vending machine you can set the prices of your selections individually or set the price of the whole machine to one price. When we want to set the price of each selection all we have to do is press that particular selection and hold the button in and you will see the price increment. Keep holding the button and when you get to your desired price let that selection go. Now just move onto the next selection and repeat the processes by holding that selection button.  

You may be thinking to yourself I have gone past the price that I want the selection for. Don't fret just let that selection go and press and hold it again and the price will decrement. You can repeat this again and the price will go back up if release the selection and press and hold it again. The Not-So Fun Stuff

This game is very slow compared to other Nintendo DS games. The loading time between games is slower than I've ever seen. You spend a lot of time waiting for the next game or scene to appear. It's seems more time went into graphics and sound than actual gameplay or speed.

Another annoyance is the in-game disclaimer. The disclaimer is long, and it scrolls on the screen each time you start the game. There's no way to skip it or increase the speed.

The Game is Fun...But

The Price is Right for the Nintendo DS isn't the best game around. Could it have been better? Yes. Is it a total waste? No. If you like the show, you'll probably enjoy the game.

September 2008 saw the reopening of the Midland after million in renovations and is now a live entertainment nightclub. The marquee has been restored to its original glory. Those of you, who believe gas price fixing does exist, raise your hand. My guess is that the vast majority of you raised your hand. Clearly, you now have some hard evidence to support your fear. The Canadian Competition Bureau (CCB) uncovered a gas price fixing scheme in Victoriaville, Thetford Mines, Magog, and Sherbrooke; all located in the province of Quebec. Bidders with "high" SSNs (ending 80 through 99) were willing to pay .91 for the exact same bottle of wine! The same phenomenon occurred with the chocolates and the computer equipment. When all the experiment data was plotted on a graph (price one was willing to pay versus ending SSN digits), the results are astonishing. The price bidders were willing to pay for each and every one of the items went up in lock step with their ending SSN digits!
